Private yoga child/teen

During a private yoga session, you perform postures (asanas) that give you energy and strength. This makes you feel relaxed, less stressed and more comfortable. This applies not only to adults, but also to children and teens. Yoga has a beneficial effect on relaxation, motor skills, self-confidence and ability to concentrate.

Private yoga Child

Children’s yoga is slightly different from yoga for teens and adults. A private session consists of breathing exercises, yoga postures, concentration and balance, visualization and relaxation. The child learns to stand firmly and with both feet on the ground, how to be himself, to look for limits and to indicate them. Through yoga the child gets a more supple, stronger body, is more in touch with its own feelings and thus gets more peace of mind.

RiverMoonYoga works together with child physiotherapist Francisca van der Laan. Through this collaboration we can use a holistic approach to help the child feel mentally and physically stronger and more resilient.

Because of my experience in (special) primary education (PABO and Special Education), the Training Effective Intuition, the Hatha Yoga training and Yin Medicine training, I can assess well what children need and guide them in their process.

Also, through our son Tommy (2007), I have experience counseling children and teens with special needs. Tommy has Down syndrome. He is doing very well, and as a result, so are we. When your child feels happy, you feel happy as a parent too, it can be as simple as that. Because of Tommy, I have learned to listen better to what he needs and to observe with more attention. In this way, every time we come to a fine cooperation, but especially to a loving connection.

Sometimes you just need a little more support physically and/or mentally. Then it is nice – possibly in addition to physical therapy – to get extra tools to relax and to feel how you can get to know your body better and thus better define your limits. These tools include yoga postures (asanas) that strengthen your muscles and increase your strength and condition. By paying attention to your breathing during the postures, you can detach yourself from the thoughts that go through your head. This way you can relax more and learn to cope better with your emotions.

Together we look at how I can guide you in the process of becoming an adult. For example, you learn to deal with excessive brooding or gloomy feelings, you learn how to deal with tension and to reduce it, to become more powerful and to feel what you want. So you learn to use your body in a pleasant way. Because you make your body powerful and strong and at the same time learn to relax, you can feel better in your own skin.
